Compared to other feeding regions, eastern Wyoming's mild temperatures and moderate precipitation are ideal for backgrounding and fattening cattle. Warm winter winds flow around the northern end of the Snowy Range Mountains and drop into the North Platte Valley, causing a noticeable increase in winter temperatures. Moderate spring and summer rainfall keep the pens dry and maintain low humidity, allowing for sort-of climate control for cattle services.
Miller Cattle & Feedyards sells to five major beef packers so you can be sure we will work for you to find the right fit for your needs. Access to multiple markets gives the feedlot flexibility to feed and sell cattle in a variety of ways. We can sort cattle to specific endpoints using ultrasound technology and forward contracting helps customers minimize the risk of feeding cattle by locking in the best market price. We are a member of Consolidated Beef Producers, one of the largest cattle marketing organizations in the United States. This allows us to stay on top of market trends and changes. Paul has served as a member of their board of directors. Blue Reef Agrimarketing is on board as our risk management consulting firm.
We keep you informed. Throughout the feeding process, customers are updated twice a month with an itemized bill of costs invested in the cattle to date. When your cattle are sold, you will receive a detailed close-out summary that includes performance information and carcass data that can be provided by the packers. We also offer projections upon request.
When choosing Miller Cattle & Feedyards, customers can enjoy flexible feeding options, a service not offered at most larger feeding companies. We also offer natural feed programs. In addition, we work with a consulting veterinarian and nutritionist on a daily basis.
Feeding Cattle is an investment, and it can put a strain on your ranch's cash flow. We can put you in touch with local lenders to help with your financing needs, whether you need financing for the cattle, feed, or both.
